不要期望简单答案 Don't expect simple answers

 

有人问：公司是商业战略重要还是管理人和领导力重要。我是教领导力的，你可能猜我会说领导力重要。但这是没有简单答案的问题。会这样问，是找捷径的心理。这样是找不到答案的。 有人问：上你的课能让我的公司有多少的盈利增长。确实有培训公司卖课程时说能提高三倍盈利。这是销售手段，就是捉住了捷径心理。 不是每件事都有简单答案的。有些答案是要靠长期奋斗、吃很多苦，才能找到的。 Some ask me - what's more important in running a profitable business, the business strategy or leadership and people management. I'm a leadership trainer, so you may think my answer is leadership. But this is a question with no simple answer. Asking this question reflects the hunger for a simple solution. Unfortunately there is no simple solution. Some ask me - how much will my company revenue grow if I attend your training. There are training companies which say they will triple your revenue. It's marketing. They know people want simple answers. Not every question has a simple answer. Some solutions take time, pain and perseverance to find.

A walk in the park

 

No matter how busy my schedule is or how tired I feel, I always make time to take walks in the park. A bit of exercise is good. More importantly, it is my sanctuary. My short escape. My charging station. I listen to the soft orchestra of insects and the occasional bird call. The gentle morning breeze brush my face. I smell grass after rain. As I walk beneath tall trees and thin clouds coloured by the rising sun, I stand in awe. I realise the many worries and problems I have are tiny in comparison.

Life finds a way.

Some people read. Some spend time with friends and family. Some play music. What is your version of walks in the park?

Why me?

When misfortune befalls us, often our first reaction is "why me?" We feel cheated. We feel life is unfair. What have we done to deserve this?

One thing is for sure - moping will not help. You might as well decide what you are going to do about it, and do it. You are not special. You are not the only person with this problem. This means you are also not alone. Reach out for help when you need help. Sometimes just talking to someone helps.

卡内基的书里有说过这样的故事：杀人凶手也觉得自己没错。那为什么我们还那么纠结希望身边的一些人要认错？专心把事做好，一切按规则判断，管好自己能掌控的事，就好了。 不过要注意，有时候不愿意承认错误的人是自己。 Dale Carnegie shared this story in his book - even a serial killer doesn't think he is wrong. Yet why do many of us torture ourselves by insisting someone admit they are wrong? We do our jobs well, we follow the rules and natural processes, we focus on what is within our control. That's all. Just beware sometimes the person unable to accept being wrong is ourselves.
